Welcome to our Weekend away 2026 trip page based in Keswick Lake District. The 2026 walking weekend will run from the evening of Thursday 7th May to Monday 11 May. Over the last 10 years we have covered many places up to the Midlands but for this year we thought we’d go to one of the UK’s classic walking areas.
\nWalking in the Lake District will be more challenging than walking in Kent so if you are thinking of joining please bear this in mind.
\nWe have also given some thought to the recent Ramblers focus on training for walk leaders, some of us have done the training and I personally have found it a useful reminder on how to deal with situations should something go wrong and how to ensure that our walks our safe for everyone taking part.
\nWith this in mind, we’d like any attendees to complete the Ramblers training, which includes preventing and managing incidents etc. if anyone has any questions on the training please see the walk leading page on our website or let Kerry or me know.
\nWe usually get 8-14 people on walking weekends and for the Lake District we are going to cap numbers at 12 to ensure safety in accordance with the guidelines and for logistics reasons. If anyone else is prepared to lead alternative easier walks this may enable us to increase numbers if there is the demand.
\nAs the distance is further to travel, rather than have two half day walks on the Friday and Monday of the weekend we plan to arrive by Thursday evening with walks on; Friday, Saturday and Sunday and travel home on the Monday. As usual we will book restaurants for the evenings.
