Evening Walk - Iden Green from The Woodcock

A lovely 4-ish mile circular walk through the quiet High Weald countryside between Iden Green and Benenden, starting and finishing at The Woodcock pub which has to got be one of the best pubs I've discovered in recent years! From the pub, the route climbs gently to the hilltop village of Benenden before returning through woodland and farmland to our start point.

From The Woodcock we head north out of Iden Green, picking up paths that lead us up through Moor Wood and across open farmland towards Benenden. The walk rewards us with lovely views of woodland as well as the Weald. At Benenden we follow the lane past the village green, church and post office, before turning along the course of the old Roman Road.

The return leg takes us south-east past Collingwood Grange and down towards Strawberry Wood and Iden Green Wood, where the going is shadier and the paths run through attractive mixed woodland. We then loop back westwards through Moor Wood to return to our start at The Woodcock, where refreshments will most certainly be on hand at the end.
